First elected in 2012, he's now serving his third, four-year term.
Gallagher says the city is very healthy, thanks mainly to its strong economic growth. One example is more than 400 single-family homes have been built in Bettendorf during just the last four years.
"Residential development sometimes comes first and then those corners, like Tanglefoot and Devil's Glen, or Middle Road and Tanglefoot, or 53rd and Middle Road - those are all places where commercial development will soon come."
And as the city has grown, it's hired more firefighters and police officers.
"We're adding firefighters and police officers, multiples each year, and have for the last four or five years. We're up to eight in fire, and with retirements and additions I think in the police department we're almost double that - 14 or 15 over the last five or six years."
Mayor Gallagher also says he's tried to improve communication with Bettendorf residents, including his weekly mayor's message, live streaming council and committee meetings, and produced videos about various city projects.
