The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the number of jobs increased by more than 9,300.
Spokesman Tom Austin says while 100 jobs were lost in the information category, other sectors made up for it. The agency says the Quad Cities added:
- 2,500 jobs in leisure and hospitality,
- 1,900 in education and health services,
- 1,400 in government,
- and 1,000 new jobs in construction.
June's 5.7% local jobless rate compares to Illinois' statewide rate of 7.9%, and a nationwide rate of 6.1%.
