River Bandits Announce 2021 Season

A new season and a new major league affiliation - Thursday the Quad Cities River Bandits announced their schedule for the 2021 season. They'll play 120 games, starting on the road on May 4th against the South Bend Cubs.

Following the re-organization of the minor leagues last fall, the River Bandits moved from the Class-A level to the High-A level, and switched affiliations from Houston to Kansas City.

Opponents in the new High-A Central league will include some familiar names from the Midwest League, including Cedar Rapids, Beloit, Peoria, South Bend, and Wisconsin. But lost in the reorganization from the minor leagues are Clinton and Burlington.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
