Interim Superintendent Alan Boucher says about 50 people work in the new center - in the meal kitchen for all the elementary schools, a large warehouse, and for a variety of departments including technology, finance, security, and the superintendents office.
It replaces a nearby old school building that dates back to about 1912.
“The administration center gives us a lot of advantages and probably the most important one is it’s easier to collaborate with one another because it’s on one floor, whereas over there, there were three floors so sometimes you wouldn’t see people for weeks at a time. This allows us to meet more frequently and to collaborate and to provide better services to all of the schools.”
Money for the new administration center comes from the one per cent local option sales tax for schools
