Chief Financial Officer Steve Frommelt is recommending an increase of less than one per cent. And that would work out to an increase of about three dollars for the owner of a 150,000 dollar home.
"It's always been important to our board to be able to maintain a tax levy and living within the means that are provided to the college. So as we always prepare our budgets, that is our goal and expectation."
Frommelt says the financial situation of the college looks pretty good so far - enrollment is up about one per cent, and he anticipates state support will stay about the same next year.
Final approval for the new tax levy is expected at the board of trustees November meeting.
The Black Hawk College district covers all or part of nine Illinois counties.
