Monta Ponsetto, executive director of the foundation, says there are 10 categories for the "Austin Academic Achievement Award," and 43 separate foundation scholarships.
"We have arts scholarships, we have sports scholarships, we have scholarships that are targeted for kids who have volunteered in the community. It's quite a variety of ways to earn a scholarship."
The academic achievement award winners were selected by teachers, and total $35,000. And the foundation scholarships were awarded based on merits described in their applications.
"They fill out one application. they could qualify for one scholarship, or they may quality for 20. So they are considered for everything that they may match the criteria."
The foundation scholarships total about $102,000, ranging individually from $500 to $6,000.
The Rock Island Education Foundation will present the scholarships on Wednesday night at the high school auditorium.
It'll also be live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook.
