Moline Teachers Ratify New Contract

Just in time for the beginning of the new school year, the Moline School District and Moline Education Association have signed a new contract.

Tuesday they announced the ratification of a two-year agreement for this year, and next. It affects 435 certified teachers.

Their salaries will go up three per cent this year, and 2.5 per cent next year, plus they'll receive increases based on years of service.

And the pay hikes should help offset the rising cost of their health insurance.

A statement from the district says "The agreement allows the District to continue to focus on student learning while attempting to remain fiscally responsible."

After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
