New Golfer Joins John Deere Classic

John Deere Classic

A self-taught, late-bloomer is set to compete against PGA tour regulars in the John Deere Classic.

Ho Sung Choi is a 45 year old golfer from South Korea. Choi is known for his distinctive swing. A photographer from the Japan Golf Tour coined a term for it - the "fisherman's swing", saying it looks like Choi casting out a line.

Choi is one of four players offered an exemption for this year's classic. He won the 2018 Casio World Open, one of four international victories. The John Deere Classic will be his second competition in the U.S., following his appearance at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

The John Deere Classic will be held the week of July 8th at TPC Deere Run in Silvis.
