Hanley for Iowa House

Sean Hanley

A Davenport realtor wants to serve in the Iowa House. Thursday Republican Sean Hanley announced his candidacy for House District 89, which covers parts of west and central Davenport.

Currently it's represented by Democrat Monica Kurth who won a special election in 2017, and re-election in 2018.

Hanley is a member of the board of directors for both area realtors’ associations and second chance housing, which works with homeless veterans. He volunteers as a mentor and instructor for One Eighty and Junior Achievement in Davenport, and is a former volunteer firefighter and EMT.

If elected, he promises to reduce government regulations on business, saying "For every new regulation, we should be looking at eliminating two non-essentials.  It is time to move forward in spurring job growth, improving our schools, and lessening the burden on hard-working taxpayers.”

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
