Local residents can help raise money for several Quad Cities charities this weekend, just by washing their cars. The Roadhouse Car Wash on 16th Street in Moline will host "Bay Art for Charity" on Saturday.

Spokesman Jay Moore says each bay at the car wash will have a banner for one of four charities, and customers can select which one they want to help. In addition, the company will hand out free art kits for children, and their finished artworks will be posted in each bay the following week.

"The proceeds are given to the charity and then the charity benefits. Most of them didn't get anything from the spring - if they had a fund-raising event it was canceled. And then the kids' artwork is just going to make everyone happy. I mean it just is."

The four charities are: the Children's Therapy Center, Bethany for Children and Families, the Child Abuse Council, and the Salvation Army.

The Roadhouse Car Wash is located at 2503 16th Street in Moline. The company has another location in Moline, plus two in Rock Island and one in Milan.

After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
