Silent Disco and Street Parties: A Look at Common Chord's Exciting Summer Events

In this episode of the podcast, host Marc Zyla sits down with Tyson Danner, the Executive Director of Common Chord. They discuss the exciting summer events and programming that Common Chord has in store for our community, with a focus on the "Live @ Five" concert series kicking off in downtown Davenport. The episode delves into the details of the block party, the lineup of local bands, and the unique silent disco event that will follow.

Tyson shares insight into the evolution of Common Chord's programming and how this year feels more "normal" compared to the challenges faced during the COVID-affected years. He talks about the quality and variety of acts they are now able to bring to the Redstone Room, ranging from local talent to big national acts. The conversation also touches on the new "Big 9" concert series and the partnership with the City of Davenport to bring live music programming to various locations along the riverfront.

Listeners will gain an understanding of how Common Chord engages and empowers working musicians on their staff, the importance of collaborations with arts organizations in the Quad Cities, and the upcoming events like the Alternating Currents festival and the Rhythm on the River Black Music Heritage Festival.
