Talking Art with Philip Laber

Ways To Subscribe

The solo exhibition by artist Philip Laber, Dialogues Within, is on display at the Beréskin Gallery & Art Academy from March 1 - April 27, 2022.

Created primarily between 2019 and 2022, this collection of acrylic paintings is complex and energetic, with forms fluctuating between representation and abstraction. Inspired by his world travels, the vividly colored works allow the viewer to construct their own narrative and interpretation.

Listen to the conversation here with artist Philip Laber about his delight in discovering unexpected interconnectedness with ancient cultures and their art, the process by which he created this collection of paintings, and his decision to use acrylic as an artistic medium. Prior to his retirement in 2016, he was a Professor Emeritus of Art at Northwest Missouri State University, where his primary focus was with Printmaking and Photography. Philip Laber now resides in Long Grove, IA.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, from 5:30-7:30 PM at the Beréskin Gallery & Art Academy, 2967 State St, Bettendorf IA, where you can meet the artist in person.
