Talking Art with Elizabeth Moen

Ways To Subscribe

Singer/songwriter and guitarist Elizabeth Moen will be performing at the newly reopened Raccoon Motel in Davenport, IA on Sunday August 15, 2021. Combining powerful vocals with bluesy guitar, the Vinton, Iowa native is in the midst of a national tour which is a welcome reprieve after a long pandemic year.

The performance of her single Headgear was featured on NPR’s “Tiny Desk Contest” in 2019, which introduced her voice, seemingly “made to turn heads,” to a wider audience. Her latest EP Creature of Habit, released in 2020, incorporates electronic textures and sounds while exploring in depth some of the issues we are all facing as a society “with a balance of accessible candor and existential profundity.”

Listen to the conversation here with Elizabeth Moen about her emergence within the musical scene while completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa, the transition to writing her own songs and lyrics, and how intimate and locally owned music venues are essential to newly developing artists.

The Raccoon Motel is located at 315 E. 2nd Street in Davenport. Tickets cost $12 and can be purchased here. The multi-instrumentalist Wyatt Waddell will be opening at 7 PM with his mix of indie/pop/R&B and funk, making this show one not to miss!

You can follow Elizabeth Moen on Facebook or Instagram.
