United Way Quad Cities is seeking volunteers for its free tax prep program this tax season.

The non-profit’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs assist local residents in preparing their income taxes. Volunteers will prepare basic tax returns for households with incomes of $67,000 or less.

Last spring, more than a hundred volunteers helped over 3,000 Quadcitizens, get more than $3.8 million in federal tax refunds.
