One person dead after car crash in Scott County Saturday, Oct. 5th

Scott County Sheriff Tim Lane, in a news release Monday, Oct. 7th, says one person is dead after a fatal car collision this past Saturday in central Scott County.

The release states William Ashton of Davenport, Iowa, was attempting to make a left turn with their Honda CRV near the intersection of 210th Street and Jersey Ridge Road.

Ashton attempted to make the left turn before the intersection, hitting head on a Chevy Silverado driven by Timothy Wiese.

Emergency crews had to remove Ashton from his car by mechanical means and transported him to Genesis East by a medic. He was then flown to Peoria hospitals, where he died.

Wiese had minor injuries and was treated and released on scene. Both drivers had their seatbelts on.

The collision is under investigation by the Scott County Accident Investigation Team.
