Care Animal Center

Quad citizens can attend a pet food drive to assist local shelters and rescues this Saturday, Sept. 28th, at the Care Animal Center, 1502 Kimberley Rd Davenport, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dawn Garrow is the office manager for Care Animal Center. She says the pet food donations will help eight local shelters and rescues, including Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Animal Aid Humane Society, K9 Kindness Rescue INC., Kings Harvest Pet Rescue, Humane Society of Scott County, Animal Welfare Center in Milan, QC Paws, and Ruff Life Dog Rescue.

According to Garrow, The food drive has been going on for 11 years.

Anyone who attends the event bringing pet food will be entered into a raffle for various baskets. Garrow says the center will draw names next week.

The food drive will include a bounce house, face painting, vendors, and food like pulled pork and cake. The food drive is also bringing some adoptable animals for residents to adopt.

At 2 p.m., a scavenger hunt starts in the back parking lot of the Animal Care Center and lasts until 4 p.m. Teams of 5 can compete to win prizes. If teams donate treats or food, they'll have a boost in the hunt. Entry to the hunt is $10 per person. The food collected at this event will be distributed between the eight local shelters and rescues.
