On Friday, Sept. 20th, the Rock Island Arsenal is celebrating Rocktoberfest from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. outside Quarters 1.

Victoria Kline is the Marketing Specialist for the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation of the Rock Island Arsenal. She says attendees who have not visited the island recently need to acquire a pass before the event at the Moline welcome center gate between 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees need their Real ID or two forms of identification and to provide their social security number to obtain a visitor's pass. Kline says the pass is good for one year and can access several arsenal services, not just the festival.

The event includes live music by Moonshine Run, live wrestling by Honor Among Wrestling, children's activities and German food and beer.

"Traditionally, our Rocktoberfest was held inside at the bar here on the island. This is the first time we moved it outside, so this is a new location. It's very exciting; we're going to be outside in good weather at this historic venue right along the river," Kilne said in a phone interview with WVIK.

The festival will include the best dress in German attire contest, and the arsenal is selling a limited edition beer stein commemorating the festival for $30.
