Over the last decade, the First Baptist Church (FBC) has provided 5,000 diapers to over 1,000 mothers with children during its diaper depot event.
This is the second year the FBC and Kiwanis Club of Moline will hold a diaper drive to maintain their inventory for area mothers. On the third Saturday of each month, the FBC gives out a week's worth of diapers to each child in the family.
Cathie Rochau is the publicity chair of the Kiwanis Club of Moline. She says the FBC goal is 10,000 diapers.
"Their diaper depot is when they distribute the diapers. This is actually a donation drive. So it's definitely different. There won't be any diapers given away," Rochau said in a phone interview with WVIK. "We're hoping to receive diapers from the community so that they can then continue to do this wonderful community service."
The FBC is ideally looking for diapers in sizes four through seven, but any brand and size is accepted.
Residents can deliver diapers to the FBC at 1901 29th St, Moline, IL 61265, on Saturday, September 14th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
