ISBE awards $3 million to advance students in computer science education. The grant aims to give all students a chance to learn computer science in high school and every grade level to learn computer literacy.

Dr. Tony Sanders, State Superintendent, says that the grant will equip schools to better teach the subject. “The students' exposure to this today will hopefully lead to more students entering that field in the near future.”

The grant is awarded for up to three years, with awards ranging from $10,194 to $60,700. Schools can spend the money on advancing their technology and educational tools.

Recipients will use the grant to expand learning opportunities, train teachers, increase enrollment in underrepresented computer science students, and early preparation for computer science careers.
