A tree uprooted from yesterday's derecho in Rock Island.

The National Weather Service says an EF-1 tornado passed through metro Davenport.

National Weather Service Tim Gross says the tornado damaged trees, roofs, and cars south of Kimberly Road. The survey team is continuing to assess the damage in southern Rock Island County towards Andover.

The Storm Prediction Center says the powerful storm yesterday is a derecho which is a widespread, long-lived wind storm.

Rock Island Public Works Director Mike Bartels said crews were called in after the storm to address several trees and limbs blocking streets and alleys. Crews worked until approximately 11 p.m. last night.

Rock Island Community Engagement Manager Sarah Hayden says this morning that the City has received 16 requests for downed trees and/or limbs thus far. Crews will be out addressing the storm cleanup throughout the day.

Administrative Services Manager Cathy St. George says Galesburg is waiting on available Ameren crews to fix powerlines before they can clean the area surrounding downed powerlines.

In an email, George says, "Residents can drop off storm debris at the oversized brush and limb drop-off, located at 636 Pickard Road. The drop-off site will be open for extended hours for the next two weeks, operating from Wednesday through Sunday each week (July 17 - 21 and July 24 - 28), with hours from 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Friday - Sunday."

MidAmerican Energy wrote in an email, "In the Quad Cities, crews have restored about half of those in the metro area who lost power due to the storm, but extensive damage is slowing progress. At its peak, the storm interrupted service to more than 31,700 customers in the Quad Cities area; currently, about 15,700 customers are without power. Tree and line crews are working in tandem to clear tree debris and replace broken poles. As crews complete work in other areas of the state, they will move to the Quad Cities to assist with around-the-clock restoration efforts. Additionally, MidAmerican has brought in crews from nearby states. Due to the level of repairs needed, we expect to restore most customers by 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, and remaining customers by 7 p.m. on Wednesday."

Ameren Illinois says they restored power to 27,000 central and northern Illinois customers, with 37,000 left.

In an email update, Ameren says, "The Incident Management Team has determined this to be a multi-day restoration effort. Due to the magnitude of the damage and the threat of continued severe weather, we are projecting 80% of the customers impacted by Monday evening's storm will have their power restored by Wednesday at 10 p.m."

As of this afternoon, over 20,000 households are currently without power:
