Augustana Requires Masks and Encourages Vaccination

With the fall semester set to begin on Monday, Augustana College is reminding students to comply with the latest Illinois mask mandate and vaccine efforts.

In an online briefing early Friday, Augustana President Steve Bahls reiterated that all Augustana employees and students must complete a vaccination form and upload a picture of their vaccination card in the next few weeks. Those who are unable or unwilling to get vaccinated will be required to get tested weekly starting in September, and will not be able to participate in all activities.

"Vaccinated members of our community will not have to go through the considerable hassle of weekly testing and stricter quarantine requirements."

Students can get vaccinated at the Augustana Convenient Care Clinic on weekdays from 10 AM - 5 PM starting Monday, and there are plans to launch a larger-scale vaccination clinic later this year.

In addition to vaccine requirements, all Augustana employees and students must wear masks in indoor public areas, and school officials say it's entirely appropriate to remind others to mask up while sharing a space.
