An iconic sign in the Quad Cities is being taken down this week. Nearly two years ago, Heritage Church bought the former Kone building in downtown Moline. And on Wednesday, the elevator company was scheduled to remove the blue and white Kone letters from the top of the tower.

Communications and Worship Arts Pastor, Brandon Shupp, says Kone has been helping the church honor the local history of the business.

On Thursday, Heritage plans to install a sign on a different part of the building featuring its new name, BridgePointe 485, which indicates its position between the existing I-74 bridge and the new one (currently under construction). And river mile 485 is the building's approximate location on the Mississippi.

Heritage Church now has five locations. Its main offices are located in the former Kone call center in downtown Moline. And four tenants have moved in, including the Safer Foundation.

Shupp says other plans for the 117,000 square foot building include renovating the fourth floor and eventually offering worship services.
