A long-time member of the Moline Fire Department will probably be its next chief. On Friday City Administrator Douglas Maxeiner announced his choice of Jeff Snyder, subject to confirmation by the city council.
Snyder first joined the Moline Fire Department in 1988 as a firefighter and paramedic, then rose through the ranks to become a battalion chief in 2015. Since last summer, he's served as interim fire chief following the retirement of Kim Hankins who led both the police and fire departments as public safety director.
Maxeiner says the city received 41 applications from 17 states, and with help from a consulting firm, narrowed the list to 4 finalists. After interviews, a search committee unanimously chose Snyder for the position.
The Moline city council will consider the appointment on Tuesday.
