25 Years Since Baby Girl April Was Found

WVIK News
The grave of "Baby Girl April" at Riverside Cemetery in Moline.

Tuesday is the 25th anniversary of the unidentified "Baby Girl April."

In 1992 someone found the body of a baby girl in a plastic bag floating in the Mississippi River near 17th Street in Moline. The cause of her death was suffocation and hypothermia. She was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Moline.

Her parents were never found, and the case is still unsolved.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
