Rock Island County Sells Hope Creek

Rock Island County

The sale of Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline is now final. Thursday the sale by Rock Island County of its nursing home to Infinity Health Care was finalized.

From now on it'll be called the Hope Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

In a press release, County Board Chair Richard Brunk says the sale helps the board meet its top priorities - to keep the nursing home open, and to protect its nearly 200 jobs.

In addition, it will no longer be a financial drain on the county - since it opened in 2009, Hope Creek has lost about two million dollars a year.

Infinity owns nursing homes in Illinois, and four other states - Indiana, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Tennessee.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
