Bettendorf Hires New Community Development Director

City of Bettendorf

In June a new director of community development will take over in Bettendorf. At Tuesday night's city council meeting, Mayor Bob Gallagher will formally anounce the hiring of Mark Hunt.

He'll replace John Soenksen who retired in March.

Hunt comes to Bettendorf after holding a variety of jobs for the Rock Island Housing Authority, Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, and Bi-State Regional Commission, and most recently he served as Finance and Economic Development Director for the Village of Milan.

Hunt is scheduled to begin his new job on June 22nd.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
