Construction crews will change traffic patterns in Moline this week.
Tomorrow, I-74 traffic will be moved from temporary, outer lanes to the new, inner lanes for traveling east and west. That section of highway is located south of Avenue of the Cities. And the Illinois DOT says these four lanes will be in use through the fall.
The I-74 exit to Avenue of the Cities will remain open, but the exit lane will be longer than it is now. Drivers should pay attention, and follow the construction signs.
Also tomorrow in Moline, workers will close the northbound lane of 19th Street, between 27th Street and Avenue of the Cities. That section is south of Avenue of the Cities, and the lane should re-open by 10 pm.
Northbound 19th Street between 12th Avenue and Avenue of the Cities is already closed, and that will continue through this construction season.
The traffic changes are part of the I-74 Mississippi River Bridge project, which should be complete in three years.
