New Public Works Director for Davenport

Giraffe Photography

Once again, Davenport has filled an important job opening with a current employee.

Monday City Administrator Corri Spiegel announced her choice for Director of Public Works and Assistant City Administrator - it's Nicole Gleason who's served as Assistant Public Works Director for the past year.
Gleason was one of three candidates for the job - the others lead public works departments in Racine, Wisconsin and Green, Ohio.

She began working for the Davenport Public Works department in 2014 as Logistics Manager, and was promoted to Assistant Director last year. Prior to working for the city, Gleason worked for John Deere for 13 years, holding several management positions.

Last summer, after a nationwide search, city leaders chose Spiegel to be City Administrator. She'd served for the past year as interim administrator.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
