Rising Rivers

Thanks to weekend storms, the Mississippi River and other rivers in this area are rising.

The National Weather Service says the Mississippi should crest Tuesday at Clinton, but will still be two feet below flood stage.

In the Quad Cities, the river is half a foot below flood stage Monday, and should crest at flood stage Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Downstream at Muscatine the crest is predicted for Wednesday, one foot above flood stage.

The Rock River at Joslin is at flood stage Monday, and should rise another foot and crest on Wednesday. It's just below flood stage in Moline, and is expected also to crest on Wednesday nearly one foot over flood stage.

The Wapsipinicon River crested at flood stage Sunday at DeWitt, and has started to fall.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
