Next year's budget and a contract for the president, top the agenda for Friday's meeting of the board of trustees of Western Illinois University. And as in past years, the June meeting will be held at the Quad Cities campus in Moline.
Trustees will discuss a preliminary budget for the fiscal year beginning July lst. But a major component, state support, is still uncertain because the Illinois General Assembly and governor have not yet worked out a state budget for next year.
The board will also review the performance of President Jack Thomas, and consider a new contract for the coming year. He became president in 2011 after serving as provost for three years.
A smoke free campus resolution is also on the agenda - that's to comply with a new state law requiring state supported institutions to become smoke free beginning July lst.
