Kyle Carter, Executive Director of the Downtown Davenport Partnership, says planning began several years ago, but before the city would help pay for it, it wanted to make sure that there was private support for the project.
"The RDA contributed, Downtown Davenport Partnership did, Bechtel Trust, Duck City even kicked in, and we even hosted a fundraiser where some of the members of the general public added almost 5,000 dollars to the bottom line too."
The park includes what he calls a "unique water feature," a stage for bands, and lights for evening events.
The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 7:30 PM Friday and will include a German band.
