Hundreds of local families will eat well this holiday season thanks to workers at the Arconic Plant in Riverdale. Thursday night, hourly and salaried employees will pack Christmas food baskets - an annual tradition that dates back to 1950.
Each year, workers hold fund-raisers, make individual contributions, and recycle their beverage cans, and use the proceeds to buy food. Recipients are nominated by employees, and selected by a committee.
This year, they'll pack 500 food baskets, and deliver them Friday.
