The Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan is going to expand. Executive Director Patti McRae says after helping thousands of animals over the past ten years, the no-kill shelter has outgrown its old building.
Soon, the new staff, the animals, and all of the equipment will be moved to the new site; a 7,000 square-foot building on West First Street that used to be the Abel Keppy Animal Hospital.
With more space and new staff, McRae says they can help more animals faster, and help control the pet population; especially cats.
McRae says the center still needs to raise money for additional equipment, like surgery tables. For more information about the capital campaign, go to www.QCAWC.org. The grand opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting for the new Quad City Animal Welfare Center will be held August 8th at 4:30.
