This year, Augustana College has added a Community Youth Forum to its Martin Luther King service.

Organizer, Eric Rowell, says the theme is Passing the Torch. A panel of college students from the Quad Cities area will lead the youth forum. They'll talk about civil rights, how the movement is changing, and how young people can get involved.

Rowell says the celebration always features performers and speakers who honor Dr. King and his ideals.

In the keynote speech, Augustana's Dr. Christopher Whitt will discuss the tactics young people are currently using to address civil rights and change.

Students from junior high, high school, and college are invited to the youth forum, from 3-4:30 p.m. on Saturday in Wallenberg Hall at Augustana College. Then tribute to Martin Luther King Junior will begin at 6 p.m. in Centennial Hall on 7th Avenue in Rock Island.
