Kim Reynolds is now officially running for governor of Iowa. During a two-day announcement tour of the state, she stopped in Bettendorf Thursday and told local republicans she's excited about launching her campaign.
"I want to make sure we have an Iowa that is thriving, safe, strong, and secure for our kids and our grand children. And an Iowa where the norm is unleashing opportunity and where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. "
Reynolds is especially proud Iowa was recently rated as the best state to live in by US News and World Report.
"It's just not the result of the numbers and the metrics, but what I said when I announced it and what I continue to say as I travel the state is - it's really a reflection of our people. It's a reflection of our work ethic and our values. And it's a reflection of all of you."
After serving as lieutenant governor for 6 years, she was sworn is as governor last May, after Terry Branstad became US Ambassador to China.
Her ten-stop announcement tour began Wednesday night and ends Friday night in Des Moines.
