Residents can help Davenport decide how to use a new community center on the west side of the city. Construction is underway and should be completed in the spring for the new building near the Fairmount Street Library.

Parks and Recreation Director Chad Dyson says a survey is available on the city website for the next two weeks, asking what the building should be used for.

“We could do fitness classes, we could do introductory sports programming, we could do performing arts, we could do drop-in play, after school stuff. The space is flexible enough that we could provide a wide variety of programs and offerings.”

It’ll cover 45-hundred square feet, and include a half-court gym, a galley kitchen, and office space. And cost an estimated 3.6 million dollars.

Dyson says the survey opened yesterday ( tues 8/29), and will be available for two weeks. Go to davenportiowa.com.
