Director of Parks and Recreation, Eric Griffith, says 40 people showed up last week for an initial design session, and now their ideas are being considered by Newline Skateparks, a company that's designed over 300 skateparks so far.
The possible site is under the I-74 Bridge, between 4th and 6th avenues.
"So about two years ago when the Urban Land Institute and Renew Moline had several meetings and discussions on what to do with the riverfront when the old I-74 Bridge was removed, they did community surveys and community inputs and this is overwelmingly the number one response."
Once a possible design is approved, Griffith says, because it would be on state property, the city will ask the Illinois Department of Transportation for its approval.
Then the city council would have to approve the plan, and the funding.
He thinks in about six weeks, the parks department will hold another meeting to look at Newline's designs
