Finance Director Linda Barnes says the proposed budget calls for spending 50.3 million dollars, with just a tiny increase in the property tax rate.
"So we like to look at a 100,000 dollar home. So if you were to look at that in comparison, your taxes would go up approximately one dollar and four cents for the entire year."
Barnes says thanks to ARPA, the American Rescue Plan Act, Rock Island will have about 15 million dollars to spend on a variety of projects: for Public Works and Parks and Recreation, plus being able to afford some new ambulances for the fire department.
