QC Losing Air Passenger Service to Minneapolis

Delta Airlines

Delta Airlines plans to stop offering flights between the Quad Cities and Minneapolis. The Quad Cities International Airport confirms a decision by the airline to suspend that service indefinitely on October 5th because of the continuing shortage of pilots.

It had been offering two daily flights to Minneapolis until the pandemic, then cut back to the current schedule of just one.

A statement from the airport says, "While we’re disappointed in Delta’s decision, we have already begun outreach to other carriers to advocate for our region and explore what opportunities may be available. The ongoing pilot shortage continues to impact many regional airports and these decisions are unfortunately more and more common as a result."

Delta currently offers two daily flights to Atlanta.

In 2020, the airline ended non-stop flights between the Quad Cities and Detroit.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
