Governments and businesses are trying to attract veterans to Scott County. So it's joined an Iowa Workforce Development program called, Home Base Iowa.

Program Manager, Jathan Chicoine, says Home Base Iowa offers incentives to veterans looking for jobs and relocation services.

With additional state resources, veterans who buy a home in Scott County may be eligible for incentives worth about eight-thousand dollars.

Chicoine says more than 100 communities already participate in Home Base Iowa with a goal of signing up all 99 counties in the state by Veterans Day.

The Scott County Board of Supervisors and Davenport City Council have decided to invest $25,000 each to help pay for local, Home Base Iowa incentives.

Other Quad Cities partners include the chamber of commerce and local employers such as John Deere.

More information is at QuadCitiesChamber.com and HomeBaseIowa.gov which includes a Find a Veteran page.
