A veteran member of the Clinton County Sheriff's Department has retired. Today the department honored Odin, a German Shepherd, who's served as a K-9 deputy for more than 10 years.
His handler, Jeff Ernst, says Odin was born in Russia in 2003, and came to Clinton County later that year after training. And since then Odin has been used for drug detection, building searches, tracking lost and missing people, crowd control, and suspect apprehension.
"When it's time to go to work, he's all excited and rarin' to go - he jumps in the squad car. He loved traffic stops, that's for sure."
Following his retirement from "active duty," Odin will continue to live with Ernst, but as a family pet.
