Village of East Davenport Master Plan

A draft master plan for future development of the Village of East Davenport will be presented Thursday night. A consultant has spent the past six months studying the village and working with residents and the city. Matt Flynn, senior planning manager for Davenport, says it's just a draft plan, but at least now there's a starting point - something to react to.

"Not only is this a historic and tourist entertainment destination, it also serves a pretty big neighborhood in east Davenport. The whole idea is to balance those two different schools of thought."

He says the consultant has identified some needs for the village, including a grocery store, general merchandise store, and even a new restaurant.

"There are plenty of bars and taverns in the east village but I think there's a lack of sit-down restaurants to make the area more appealing to a wider cross-section of the community."

And Flynn says one possible recommendation from the study is design criteria for future businesses in the east village. The public meeting on the draft development plan begins at 6 pm Thursday in the Village Theater on East 11th Street (2113 east llth st.)
