Davenport Ferris Wheel

A new attraction is coming to the Davenport riverfront. Yesterday the owner of the Quad Cities River Bandits received permission from the city to build a Ferris Wheel next to Modern Woodmen Park. Mayor Bill Gluba says the 90 foot Ferris Wheel will be located just beyond the left field fence.

First the Levee Commission unanimously approved the project, then last night the city council also approved it.

Gluba says each year, Main Street Baseball pays the city about 300,000 dollars to lease the stadium, and the city uses the money to improve the facility. Under this proposal, the city will re-imburse Main Street Baseball, over five years, for the cost of the Ferris Wheel. He says it should start operating by June.
