A church plans to buy the old Bettendorf High School football field. Tonight, the board of education will hold a public hearing about the sale and will probably vote on the proposal.
Superintendent, Theron Schutte, says last spring, the Apostolic Assembly of Bettendorf bought the district's administrative center, in the 800 block of 23rd Street. And the sales contract gives the church the right to buy adjacent property first.
The field is adjacent to the building, and Schutte (SHOO-tee) says it hasn't been used for several years. The Apostolic Assembly has agreed to buy it for 125,000 dollars.
The public hearing on the proposal will be held tonight at 6:00, right before the Bettendorf School Board meeting. The administrative center board room is now located in the new addition to the high school.
