tonight's headlines:

  • Bettendorf schools next year will be in session for at least 1,080 hours, not 180 days,
  • the local option sales tax will make possible a major addition to UT High School in EM,
  • and why recycling workers are preparing for a busy holiday season.

Partly cloudy tonight with a low near 24. Mostly sunny on Wednesday, high 39.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
