"Slow Down, Be Alert & Pay Attention" in River Construction Zone

submitted

Iowa Department of Transportation

Fishermen, water skiers, wake boarders, sailors, and other boaters should be careful when traveling near a construction zone in the Quad Cities. That zone is located on the Mississippi River between Bettendorf and Moline, upstream from the I-74 bridge.

That's where Lunda Construction and other contractors are building the new, interstate bridge.

Project Manager, Danielle Mulholland, says her team and the Iowa Department of Transportation have issued a River Traffic Advisory. The goal is to remind boaters to "use extreme caution and avoid the construction zone when possible."

Mulholland also says the bridge project team is keeping a close eye on the flood forecast for the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities. The contractors are required to have contingency plans for various levels of high water.

River traffic is not restricted around the bridge construction zone. More information about the $1.2 billion project is available HERE. The flood forecast for the Quad Cities is HERE.
