The federal prison in Thomson Illinois has plans to add inmates, but to do that it must first hire more correctional officers. So Friday and Saturday, it will hold a job fair.
Spokeswoman Kristen Foster says the prison wants to hire more than 100 people.
"We're looking for people that have three years of supervisory experience to come on to our staff. You know they can work at any type of food restaurant or industry."
Currently it has 1,300 prisoners and 400 staff, but with more correctional officers it could raise the number of inmates up to 1,800.
Foster says there's no age requirement for veterans, but for other applicants the maximum age is 37. Applicants are also advised to go online and create a resume, called a "USA JOBS profile," before attending the job fair - it's at www.usajobs.gov.
New hires could start training as soon as December 20th, and salaries start at 43,000 dollars a year.
The job fair at the Thomson prison will be held from noon until 8 pm Friday, and 8 am until 4 pm Saturday.
