'Talking Art' with Mo Carter

Local singer/songwriter Mo Carter will be conducting a musical tour of the Figge Art Museum on Thursday, March 12, 2020.  Inspired by some of her favorite art works, she will perform on her guitar and sing in her bold, soulful voice, accompanied by violinist Melinda Leasman.  The “musical musing” begins at 6:30 PM and will wind through multiple galleries.

Mo Carter is currently a member of the bands Mo and Co. and The Velies. A list of additional upcoming performances can be viewed on her Facebook page.  An EP release party is scheduled for April 25, 2020 at Rozz-Tox in Rock Island.

Listen to our conversation here about the well-documented interaction between music and the visual arts, the journey she took to become a singer/songwriter, and how music can provide a new lens through which to view art.

The Figge Art Museum is located at 225 W. 2nd St. in Davenport and is free of charge on Thursday evenings.

Carolyn Martin joined WVIK as a host of Talking Art in 2017. A long-time fan of NPR programming with a love of storytelling and all art forms, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to speak with creative people who beautify our community and make the Quad Cities region an even better place to live.
