RI County Administrator Search Update

The search for an administrator for Rock Island County is nearly over. Four candidates will be interviewed on Monday.

County board member Pat Moreno, from Silvis, is chairman of the Administrator Search Committee. He says 40 people applied, and a consultant narrowed the list to 12. Then his committee picked its four top candidates.

Moreno says the candidates will tour the county and Quad Cities on Sunday (2/22), and meet informally with members of the county board. Then formal interviews will be held on Monday.

He says all four are "really qualified."

The process involves everyone, not just a few board members.

Two finalists will be chosen and interviewed at a public meeting of the full Rock Island County board on March 3rd, followed, possibly, by a vote to hire one of them.

The new county administrator could start work in May.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
