Iowa Early Voting Opens

Even though the election is still more than 5 weeks away, residents of Iowa can cast their ballots. Early voting opened across the state today.
Scott County Auditor, Roxanna Moritz, says more than 100 people were in line when her office opened this morning, and by 11 am, 250 had voted.
And she's forecasting a heavy turnout by election day on November 6th. As of today, more than 11,000 Scott County residents have requested absentee ballots - a 35 per cent increase over the same time in 2008.
Early voting will be offered only in her office until next month when several satellite stations will open. Dates and locations will be listed on her website.
Dubuque County Auditor Denise Dolan says 30 to 40 people were lined up this morning when her office opened, to vote early. She thinks turnout may break the records set in 2008. Already her office has mailed 95-hundred absentee ballots, and Dolan says that adds up to a 12 per cent turnout more than a month before the election.
